about
Salutations,
This single you are likely listening to was recorded in a cavernous basement on the very same board we recorded our first release Pasquale on in 2009. Except this time around, we had the tracks mixed by the great Adam Fair. We wanted to capture a no frills example of what can be accomplished on a small budget, real instruments, no computers and very few takes. We're a rock 'n' roll band. We believe in the simple power of song.
Sincerely,
Broken Bricks

lyrics
It Won't Get You High
(Marlon Chaplin)
I can't explain this prophecy,
Won't you come to me,
When I rap-rap on your door?
Dreams come to me in symmetry,
Memories are hidden on the opposite floor,
You wait for the sign,
I've been falling farther behind time after time,
Please keep the receipts,
I'll be making waves on the sheets,
She would never speak,
Call my apostle's underpaid servants,
Tell them I'll be out of town for a while,
Lights flicker on and off again,
Don't pretend what doesn't kill you,
Won't get you high,
You wait for the time,
When I hold you out in the field,
So hard to conceal,
Our perfect disguise for this unmarked box in the sky,
It won't get you high,
You wait for the sign,
I've been falling farther behind time after time,
Our perfect disguise for this unmarked box in the sky,
It won't get you high,
I can't explain this prophecy,
Won't you come to me,
When I rap-rap on your door?
Dreams come to me in symmetry,
Memories are hidden on the opposite floor,
They're hidden on the opposite floor,
They're hidden on the opposite floor,
They're hidden on the opposite floor,
Hidden on the opposite floor.
